About the role
Our world? Technology. We’re a one-stop shop for technology projects (IT and telecoms businesses, but also banks, insurers, manufacturers and other sectors going digital). We cover a wide range of work, from commercial and corporate projects to IT, IP, venture capital, GDPR, e-commerce, cybersecurity, disputes and employment matters.
Specialisation in transactions. We’re looking for an experienced colleague to advise on transactional projects, particularly:
- drafting and negotiating documentation for M&A transactions and company acquisitions,
- advising on investments in start-ups and growth companies,
- drafting and negotiating investment documentation, including term sheets, investment agreements and shareholders' agreements,
- structuring transactions and relationships between founders, investors and management,
- coordinating legal due diligence for acquisitions and investments,
- working on complex transactions from initial structuring to closing,
- overseeing corporate documentation for company changes.
A hands-on role in project delivery. You won’t be watching from the sidelines here. We’re looking for a colleague with a fully hands-on role in delivering legal services, directly responsible for advising clients, including day-to-day communication and client care. The role also includes assigning tasks to other team members, coordinating project work, reviewing substance, giving feedback and taking responsibility for final deliverables before they go to the client.
Customer success model. We act as a strategic legal partner, working directly with company leaders and replacing or complementing their in-house legal teams. We build long-term client relationships through a customer success model. In practice, we actively manage legal projects to deliver against clients' business goals.
Freedom. We are an open, transparent firm. We have no fixed working hours. After an initial period, we work in a hybrid model: some people start early, others work later; some work from the office, others from home. You can go to a workout or take your children to the doctor during the day, provided you manage your projects responsibly. We have one exception: we do not work weekends.
Responsibility. Freedom goes hand in hand with responsibility. We handle complex, important assignments and work as our clients' in-house legal team. We are known for high expectations. That does not mean burning out. It means using your freedom responsibly while maintaining the standards and processes we work by.
Growth. We’re demanding. We expect a lot, but that means we’ll teach you a lot too. If you can handle an environment where we play it straight, we’ll move you forward faster than anywhere else: professionally, commercially and personally. It’s work, with everything that comes with it. Pressure, responsibility and mistakes. But in a place where we always say things straight to each other’s face and where we like you even when something doesn’t work out.
Realise your potential. We all have different strengths, and we would like to discover yours. Perhaps you want to focus on legal work, build client relationships or deliver training and develop your leadership profile. We will share the firm's vision and goals and discuss where you see yourself contributing.
Benefits
- Freedom to organise your work: no fixed working hours, hybrid working and trust in how you manage projects.
- Working from home as standard: not an exception, just a normal part of how we work after initial onboarding.
- Unlike many firms, we offer our lawyers a stable fixed income. That brings predictability, peace of mind and a fair environment for real growth.
- A contribution of EUR 400 per month for six months for female lawyers who become mothers
- A EUR 300 contribution towards baby essentials on the birth of a child
- A modern, thoughtfully designed workplace at EINPARK Offices by Corwin, Slovakia's greenest office building.
- Opportunities beyond law: if you fancy it, you can get involved in marketing, business development or events, broadening your perspective and gaining hands-on experience outside traditional legal work.
- Support for professional growth and visibility: you can give talks, create content and be part of events such as Legal Tech Forum or our internal training. See www.legaltechforum.sk and https://www.mathisonlegal.sk/sk/vzdelavacia-zona.
- Business Breakfast and community: attend regular MATHISON Business Breakfast events and other workshops to develop your legal knowledge.
- Language courses: we run courses for anyone who wants to improve their legal and everyday English.
- Culture, not just colleagues: regular team-building, lunches and one-to-ones where there’s room to speak openly.
Recruitment process
Shortlisted candidates complete a legal assignment in the first round, followed by two rounds of meetings with the partners. We also offer an introductory day or project so you can meet the team and experience how we would work together. We move quickly: the process takes three to four weeks.
Send your CV to info@mathison.sk and don’t forget your cover letter.
